Courage. Strength. Devotion. Another day in the life of a ranch dog.
Pogonip is an Australian Cattle Dog out for a typical day’s work on her sprawling cattle ranch. From catching mice under hay bales to tracking rogue bulls through parched pastures, she’s ready for any task. When a routine excursion becomes a battle of David and Goliath proportions, Pogonip finds herself fighting for the lives of the people she loves—even if that means sacrificing her own.
Stories in the Angel Paws series celebrate the unique bond between canines and humans with heartfelt, moving, and insightful tales for anyone who has ever loved a dog.

Another good story about a dog. This dog, Pogonip, helps on the ranch - chasing mice and herding a bull. The latter was probably too intense for younger readers as well as dog lovers who cringe whenever an animal is injured. Poor Nip had a hard battle with a bull, but this very determined dog was not about to give up! Not when there was a job to be done. Didn't matter how difficult or dangerous that job might be.Determination, perseverance, and just plain grit are qualities we might do well to learn from Pogonip. This little powerhouse was no quitter!
This is an intense story - probably not suitable for younger children. However, I read one review that said this would be a good story for parents to read to their children. If you are considering that, please read it for yourself first. Only you can know whether or not your child(ren) can handle it. If so, read it with (or to) them. Younger children really don't need to tackle this one alone.
This wasn't my favorite Angel Paws story because I want them all to be "feel good" stories. This (for me) wasn't one of those, but it was still a good little story. You just might enjoy it during your next mid-day break.

Pogonip Angel Paws edition by Jordan Taylor Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
The author knows some about Heelers. Story was good though rather short. I would recommend it to dog lovers and others who would like to know something about Heelers, what they do and some about their character.
The story is very interesting since I, like most people, love dogs. Jordan Taylor presents some object or circumstance for the dog to overcome in each of her stories and you find yourself rooting for the dog as well as their owners. I recommend the several books she has published about dogs.
Quick read about the love of a dog for her humans. Fighting to get a bull roped, horses, men and Pogonip struggle with this bull. It's a bloody fight and suspense, and thrilling short read. Will this dog survive the injuries the bull has inflicted on her? Will the horses ever recover?
This takes 20 minutes to read or less. Great Book. Beautiful dog.
This is a short story about an Australian Cattle Dog who is assisting her owners in corraling their neighbors' bull which has broken onto their ranch. While the story is short, the descriptions are vivid. You can almost feel the heat and dust of the ranch as the two men on horseback and their dog fight to corral the bull without anyone (or dog) being hurt. The dog's intelligence and devotion is amazing.
I love animals, so I was looking forward to reading this book. I'm not terribly interested in "Westerns", so was a little disappointed in that aspect, however it is well written, thoughtful and really showed the value of this dog to it's master, and others who were privileged to be helped by it. Good Story..I would recommend it for a good, fairly quick read. It will keep your interest to the end, and you will wish there was more.
This was a short story, there may be a longer one. What a terrific dog! I could not stop reading, all else just had to wait. When I read it, I had not see a photo of the dog. But I quickly decided it had to be an Australian cattle dog. Also a red one, based on a tuft of hair detaching from the dog during the battle I have talked to people who have actually worked with this breed. What courage, what determination! Pogonip must be a living example of everything in the breed genetic makeup. Plus she works with people who respect her, appreciate her and let her do her own thing. Even not stopping her from continuing to work with a cast on her leg. The story impressed me more than any other dog tale in many years.
I have been around ACD's and other herd'n dogs me whole life, i can no longer sit a horse due to be'n paralyzed but i still have a ACD that heals me wheelchair every chance she gets.
I loved the book but wish it was a wee bit longer, Pogonip reminded me so much of me last rescue ACD i called Pesheu (PEA ~ SHOE) it means "Worthy" in the South Mexican Native Indian tribes, i loved the name from the first time i heard it because i believe all dogs are "worthy" of be'n rescued and loved. I have been rescue'n herd'n dogs since i was in me later teenage years.
I hope ms Jordan Taylor writes another book about the ACD, i must admit i also hope it is about 300 pages long and be about a ACD that is an agility dog like all me ACD's dogs are now that i can no longer work a farm.
